Question 56
Let E be a finite set of boys and girls. A subset G of its boys is called popular if every girl of E knows at least one boy in G. Similarly a subset F of girls is popular if every boy knows at least one girl in F. Acquaintance is symmetric: if a knows b, then b knows a. Prove that the numbers of popular subsets of boys and of girls have the same parity.
