Question 23
Two brothers attend different schools on the same straight road as their home, in opposite directions. They leave home together each morning. The older brother cycles to his school, 2.2 km from home, while the younger brother walks. Today, on arriving at his school, the older brother notices he has taken his brother’s bag and immediately rides back to catch him. At that moment the younger brother has walked $\frac25$ of his way to school. The older brother catches him exactly at the younger brother’s school gate. How far is that school from home, in metres? Both travel at constant speeds.
