Question 24

The bar graph shows the areas of rectangles A–E in square centimetres. Their areas and side lengths are whole numbers. A, B and C have equal perimeters; D and E also have equal perimeters. The difference between the areas of B and E is 32 square centimetres. Find the sum, in centimetres, of the smallest possible perimeter of A and the smallest possible perimeter of E.

Side lengths are positive integers. Read each horizontal grid interval as one equal area unit, with the bars starting at the common zero baseline.

Input: enter the requested whole-number answer without units. Leading zeroes from the paper grid may be omitted.
