Count without missing anything and without counting twice: multiply choices with tree diagrams, list pairs in order, sort shapes into types, use Venn diagrams and the complement, and find a simple chance.
Use the multiplication rule and a tree diagram for outfits, codes and paths in stages.
Count pairs (teams, handshakes, matches) by an ordered list and by $n\times(n-1)\div2$.
Count shapes and arrangements by sorting them into types and crossing out forbidden cases.
