Editorial self-study SET for 2027; not an official SASMO 2027 examination. Known source years remain in individual attributions. Time: 90 minutes. Platform scoring starts at 0: Q1–15 are worth 2 points each; Q16–25 are worth 4 points each; wrong and blank answers score 0; maximum 70. Official SASMO scoring instead starts at 15, deducts 1 for an incorrect Section A answer and has a maximum of 85. Verified means editorially checked; assumptions, source errors and mathematical uncertainty are disclosed where relevant.
In each pyramid, two neighboring numbers add to the number directly above them. In the example, 6+5=11 and 11+11=22. Complete every blank in the second pyramid. What number replaces A? Enter A as your final answer.
What is the next number in the sequence 15, 20, 22, 26, 29, 32, 36, …?
Use the intended alternating pattern: the terms in odd-numbered positions form an arithmetic sequence, and the terms in even-numbered positions form another arithmetic sequence. In each of these two sequences, the increase stays the same.
John cannot tell time. Help with all three problems.
(1) John takes 10 minutes to get to school. It is now 6:15 a.m.; at what time will he arrive?
(2) He starts lunch at 10:45 a.m. and eats for 25 minutes. When does he finish?
(3) The clock shows the current time. John and his brother will go to the park 40 minutes from now. What time will it be then? Give the three times in order as hh:mm, separated by commas.
For part (3), report the time 40 minutes after the displayed clock; do not add an unspecified journey time. The source English mentions going to the park, and the Vietnamese asks about leaving home.
There are 18 books on the first shelf and 24 on the second. How many books must be moved from the first shelf to the second so that the second shelf has twice as many books as the first?
In the column addition AB+BA=CC, each letter represents a digit and AB, BA, CC are two-digit numbers. Find at least five different assignments of values to A, B and C that make the addition true. Write each assignment and check its sum.
Use the usual letter-digit convention: different letters have different digits within an assignment. A, B and C cannot be zero because each begins a two-digit number. “Five values” is understood as five complete assignments, as in the source key.
A square of area 81 square centimeters is made from three identical small rectangles, as shown. What is the perimeter of one small rectangle, in centimeters?
What is the minimum number of straight cuts needed to divide a cylindrical cake into twelve identical pieces?
A straight cut is one complete planar slice. Leave all pieces in their original positions between cuts; horizontal cuts are allowed. “Identical” means the same shape and size.
Jack has 80 candies. He eats 1 on the first day. Each following day he plans to eat twice as many as the previous day, until all the candies are gone. How many candies does he eat on the last day?
On the last day, if fewer candies remain than the planned doubled amount, Jack eats only the remainder. This is the intended exception used by all three source answers.
