AMO 2027 Grades 2-3 SET 24 - Self-study

Question 1

If the digits of a two-digit number are reversed to form a new number, the difference between the two numbers is 45. How many different such pairs are there?

Use the source convention: a reversed form may start with zero (for example, 04 means 4). Count each pair once, regardless of order.

Question 2

If $\overline{5A8}+\overline{B2}=600$, what is the largest possible difference between digit A and digit B? The bars indicate numbers made from digits, not products. Digits range from 0 to 9; B is nonzero because B2 has two digits. Difference means the larger digit minus the smaller.

The original choices are A. 7; B. 6; C. 5; D. 3; E. 1. For this self-study edition, enter a number rather than an option letter, whether or not it appears in that list.
