Question 41
Two men, A and B, played a round of golf. A said: "Let us bet on each hole for half the money in my wallet. I have £100, so the first hole is for £50: if I win you give me £50, if I lose I give you £50. On the second hole I will have either £150 or £50, so we play for £75 or £25." After the 12th hole it rained and they stopped. A had won 6 holes, B 4 holes, and 2 were tied, so A offered to buy the drinks. To his amazement he had only £71.18 in his wallet. Why was this possible? (The order in which the holes were won makes no difference.)
